Great Converge Challenge news!

The University of Edinburgh has the highest number of shortlisted candidates and finalists in all Converge Challenge award categories.

Douglas Martin, a recent graduate has reached the top ten of the main category Converge Challenge with MiAlgae Ltd. Which utilizes nutrient rich wastewater to produce microalgal products for the livestock feed industry. Douglas recently won runner-up in the Inspire Launch Grow Awards hosted by the department we belong to; Edinburgh Innovations (previously Edinburgh Research and Innovation).

Lily Asch another familiar face and finalist at the Inspire Launch Grow Awards reached the top five of the Social Enterprise Award category with Real Talk. A social enterprise that uses the power of storytelling to help individuals connect their narratives around experiences of mental ill health to create safe spaces for these stories to be shared.

Finalists will now go through the final stage of the company creation and entrepreneurial development programme for staff, students and recent graduates of Scottish universities and Research Institutes. The winners of each of the three categories will be announced at a Converge Challenge awards ceremony on Thursday 28th September 2017 at Glasgow Science Centre.

The University of Edinburgh and LAUNCH.ed have a strong success record with Converge Challenge including Dr Alexander Enoch with Robotical Ltd in 2016 and Richard Walker with Photon Force in 2015.
