The winners of the 2016/17 Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) Fresh Ideas competition were announced on Wednesday 22nd March night at the Corinthian Club in Glasgow.
We are delighted with how well the University of Edinburgh was represented with several students and recent graduates making it through to the finals. Two of the four winners are from the University taking home a £1,000 each.
Current student Zachary Bayham-Herd won with his idea “the world’s first peer-peer conservation platform connecting those willing to donate to conservation, with those working specifically on individual conservation projects.”
Recent graduates Roy Hotrabhvanon & Fiona Inglis also won with their idea of “a new wearable monitoring system to help sports coaches monitor the status of their teams in real time.”
Special awards were also given where winners took home £250. Lorn Jean Cowie won the creative industries award with her high-end fashion brand focused innovation.

Ana Gonzales-Ramos MSc Regenerative Medicine student was shortlisted for the Health and Well Being award.
